A Gal’s Guide to Accessories – Guest Post

Summer is the season of color. That’s why, when it comes to selecting your accessories for the summer season, it’s wise to pick items that are beautifully bright and bold. Most of the time, we opt for neutral pieces for our main items and then use a few well thought out accessories to dress them up and add color.

While some people have no trouble accessorizing, there are some of us who find choosing summer accessories tricky. This is partially because there are so many beautiful pieces to choose from, from shoes to jewelry. As well as the fact that picking the best options can often be tricky, especially when there are so many choices.

To make accessorizing for summer easier, I thought I would put together a few tips that I swear by. These make choosing your summer essentials much easier and less stressful.

A pair of sunglasses and a stylish case are a must. For summer, sunglasses are one of the most sought after accessories. To be stylish, your glasses don’t have to be designer, they just need to look smart. This season, the most stylish sunnies to own are, of course, tortoiseshell-style ones. Along with a cute floral-printed case.

For a hat, once again fedora-style hats are in. These large oversized hats look fantastic on the beach with a bikini, pair of sunglasses and a cute cover-up. For summer, the best hat styles to go for are linen or straw, steer clear of black designs, as these pull in the heat.

This summer, bright jewelry is in, which means that bracelets, necklaces, and earrings with stones in are a must-have. The most beautiful gemstone to have has to be a ruby stone, as these are so wonderfully bright. Making them perfect for summer. A ruby pendant or ring are both ideal for summer, as are pieces with other gemstones in them. Emerald and amber designs are also perfect for summer because they’re lovely and bright.

For shoes, once again gladiator-style sandals are in. This year, however, the most sought after styles are ones covered in sequins, gems, and other embellishments. The prettier the design is, the more sought after it is. Of course, ballet flats and slip on shoes are also in this summer, but gladiator sandals are the most popular.

Like every summer, beautiful bikini wraps and cover ups are also a must-have. The most popular of which are the designs that are beautifully bright, bold, and packed with pattern. There are also a few stylish neutral cover ups on offer, but the most popular have to be the bright, bold designs.

Last but not least, an essential accessory that every stylish gal needs is a summer bag. When it comes to summer, bags go from being all about the leather to all about the bright, bold cotton blends. Come summer, the more patterned and colorful your bag is, the better.

There you have it, all the best summer accessories that every fashion lover needs. Choosing the perfect design can be tricky, it’s just a case of selecting styles that work for you.

My Lip Tint Pack

I recently saw a “sponsored” video for this product, and we all know how I love my bold lip. I just had to try it, so I took to Amazon.

It is called “My Lip Tint Pack”, and it is made in Korea. It is marketed as a “Lip Tattoo”, but don’t worry, it isn’t that permanent. Think of it like lip stain.

It comes in six different colors, and they can be purchased as a whole set, or individuals.

I wanted to try just the “Virgin Red” color, and loved the price! It was only around $6! It arrived this week, and I was excited to try it out!

My apologies for a not as high quality as I like for my “before picture”.

This is me with my natural lip. I started with nothing on them, you’ll want them free of any other lip product. I will be trying to exfoliate my lip prior to using this product, that way the lip is smooth and it will go on easily.

The product is a sticky gel, that has a slight fruity scent. It takes a bit of time the first time, but when applying, you’ll want to make sure to evenly cover your entire lip, both top and bottom.

Do NOT touch your lips together though, it is very sticky and needs to dry. Be sure not to use too much, so it doesn’t gloop off your lip.

If I felt like it got out of place, I used one of my nails and carefully ran it across my lip line to correct it.

Yes, I am making a very weird face, this is what the product looks like while on, and drying. I did not want my lips to touch, didn’t want to mess it up!

Let it dry about 5-10 minutes. You can feel it drying, and you will be able to tell when it is no longer sticky.

Once dry, start at the edge, and peel it off. Yes, you read that right, you peel it off! You can see in the picture below, it comes off in one piece, each lip of course.

I loved the red color! My lips left as if they had nothing on them, didn’t feel dry, and I could rub a finger across them without anything coming off!

It was close to 5pm when I first tried it on, when I checked around 7:30, my lips were still really red, and it only wore off a little in the very middle. (I had eaten dinner, so that was probably a factor.)

This product not only goes on easily, but lasts and won’t “kiss off”. When getting ready for bed, I used my makeup removing wipe, and what was left, came off easily.

Let me know if you try this product out!

Monday Motivation

Still enough time in today for some  Monday Motivation!

This is something that bugs me, I don’t care how much money you make, or if you drive a fancy car, if you act like you are better than somebody, your success doesn’t matter.

Remember where you came from, stay humble and be kind! 💋

Tropical Smoothie

Finally! I am back at it again with a new smoothie.

I feel like I have been “off my game” over the past week, and it feels good to have created a great, new smoothie to post.

This is full of fruit, and tastes so good. I have been enjoying it when I get back from the gym.

1/2 cup Crushed Ice

1/3-1/2 cup Frozen Mango

3 large chunks Fresh Pineapple, chopped

1/2 tbls Chia Seeds

1 cup Orange Juice

Put all ingredients, in order shown, in your Ninja Single Serve Cup, or another blender, and blend until smooth.

With the ice and frozen mango, it may be a thick slush, add more orange juice until it is all blending evenly.

Pour into glass and enjoy!

Brownies – One Box, Two Ways

I have such a sweet tooth, so baking is very enjoyable for me. It not only gives my family and I some sweet treats, but it also offers me the chance to be creative.

This idea popped into my head recently, while I was thinking of the next steps to take with the website. (Yes, new stuff is coming!)

It is easy, and delicious. I hope you enjoy them as much as we did!

You’ll need a mixer, a separate bowl, two spatulas, a soup ladle, and two 9″ baking pans that have been sprayed or coated, so the brownies don’t stick.

1 Box Betty Crocker Brownie Mix (FAMILY size, this is important. You need the 13×9 pan box.)

1/2 Cup Hershey’s Syrup

10 Double Stuf Oreos, crumbled

1/2 Brick Philadelphia Cream Cheese, softened

1/2 Cup Nestles Chocolate Chips

(Note: my ingredient list did not include those on the back of the box.)

Mix brownies according to box, I did this in my Kitchen Aid stand mixer. Be sure to scrape the sides with a spatula, and mix thoroughly.

Once fully mixed, separate half of the batter into a separate bowl. Using the soup ladle made this easier.

In the mixer, add the 1/2 brick of cream cheese, and 1/2 cup chocolate chips. (I cut the cream cheese into squares to help it mix evenly.) Mix this thoroughly, and pour into one of the prepped 9″ baking pans.

In the bowl, with the other part of the batter, add the 1/2 cup chocolate syrup, and the crumbled Oreos. Mix this well with your spatula, and pour into the other prepped 9″ baking pan.

Be sure to use one spatula for each to scrap the sides to get all the batter into the pans.

Bake both pans, at the same time, at 350 degrees, for 35 minutes. Check them at 25 minutes, as ovens do vary. You know they are done when you can poke them with a toothpick and it comes out clean.

Let sit for 5 minutes, and enjoy!

Cream Cheese and Chocolate Chip Brownie on the left. Hershey’s Syrup and Oreo Brownie on the right.

Recipe Doubling:

Have a big event? Buy two boxes of brownie mix and doubled the added ingredients. Use a 13×9 pan for both, and possibly bake one at a time.

Fashion Tip Friday

Fashion Tip Friday is finally here!

The weather is warming up, and that means the shorts are coming out.

Ladies, girls, women, please! If you are having to pull the shorts out of your “business”, they are too tight and short, this isn’t a good look either.

We are classy ladies, please remember that during these warm months. 💋
