Crash diets don’t work long-term. They make you miserable, and you end up gaining back, even more, weight than you lost in the first place! Eating clean and squeezing in the occasional treat is a much healthier and effective way to lose weight, guaranteed. That being said, we all have those big events, like dinner parties and weddings, that we need to attend. We want to look our best, and we only have a week or two to lose weight, which means that we have to crash diet, right? Well, no – not really. There are several things you can do to fit into that size ten dress even though you’re a twelve, which don’t involve crash dieting. Check out this list of (mostly) simple ways to drop a dress size in around seven days:
Stay Hydrated
If you can’t fit into that slinky little number not because you’ve gained too much weight, but because you’re really bloated, you need to start drinking more water. The better hydrated you are, the better able your body will be to purge itself of excess salt reserves and toxins that are causing your stomach to blow up like a balloon.
Eat Your Vegetables
Starving yourself to lose weight isn’t going to work. It’s just going to make you feel sick. On average, it is impossible to lose more than two pounds of real fat in a week, so you’re onto a losing streak if you think the cabbage soup diet will sort you out. That being said, making vegetables the bulk of your meal will help you to lose a couple of pounds and eliminate bloat-causing toxins, which could be enough to get you into that special outfit in time.
Start Sweating
Sweating will get rid of excess water that makes your body swell up and look bigger than it really is. It also releases toxins and helps the body to burn excess fat. So, get running or take as many trips to the sauna as you can in the week before your important event.
Liposuction
If you have the money and the inclination, vaser liposuction is a simple procedure, which can get rid of excess fat in a pinch, giving you’re the silhouette you really want very quickly.
Cut Down on Carbs
If you are retaining water, you can puff up and appear bigger than your weight would suggest. By cutting down on carbs, you can encourage your body to release water more quickly, which will slim you down somewhat. A low-carb diet can also help you to burn fat more quickly, but you generally have to cut down to a very low carb intake for that to happen, and that is something which isn’t very sustainable in most cases.
Exercise
I’ll be honest, exercise can only do so much in the space of a week, but if you do an hour a day, combined with a healthy diet you could lose 2-3 pounds in seven days. Just stick to cardio and exercise as intensely as you can safely manage for the best results.
Once you’ve hit your goal, don’t fall back into bad habits. Keep eating more fruits and vegetables and take regular exercise and you’ll always be at your ideal weight in the future!
