How Do You Keep Yourself In The Game?

Drive is essential. Whether you’re a professional photographer, blogger or business owner or you’re trying to get your education, a focus is an immensely powerful tool. When you drop out of “the game”, you’re prone to distraction, to sub-par efforts, and to just losing the love for what you’re passionate about. Lacking that focus and motivation is a big problem for people who don’t naturally have that drive. But it’s not a problem that can’t be solved.

Create the right space

Whether it’s for professional or creative use, you need to make sure that your environment is conducive to hours at a time being spent in that one place. To that end, it’s recommended that you ensure you’re not using the space that’s normally for relaxing at home. Creating a home office can help you ensure you’re in an environment that doesn’t blur the lines between your work and the life outside it.

Start the day right

Perhaps you have trouble getting into gear from the start of the day. If that’s the case, then it might be because you’re not giving yourself the proper start you need with an extensive morning routine. For one, wake up with at least two hours between you and when you need to shift into ‘work mode’. Have a full morning, including a proper breakfast and a bit of a morning exercise. A bit of meditation can even help, too.

Visualize and act

One of the most effective aspects of meditation is the fact it gives you a bit of space and perspective. It’s one of the ways, but not the only one, to visualize your goals before you start the day. It might otherwise be a to-do list or a schedule for how you spend the day. Know what you want to achieve at the end of it, so you always feel like every bit of effort you’re putting in is bringing you closer to some finish line.

Treat yourself

One of the issues a lot of people have with staying energetic throughout the day is that they fail to give themselves the mindful break they need to check in on themselves and recharge. It doesn’t even have to be an extended time away from your work. Many people wouldn’t be able to work without a good cup of coffee. Make it a special treat during your work day. Instead of standard store-bought stuff, you can easily get quality coffee beans with free delivery so your treat isn’t costing you too much. If coffee isn’t your thing, prepare yourself a delicious (but hopefully healthy) snack to take ten minutes away from work with. A little breathing room can do a great deal of good.

Diversify

In the long term, trying to keep your focus on one thing alone can be bad for you. You don’t necessarily have to be a full renaissance man or woman, but it’s a good idea to have at least one other passion. Alongside your work, find your creative side that you make time to engage with.. If you keep your head fully entrenched in one world for too long, it’s too easy to get sick of obsessing over the details of it for too long.

Putting in the right practices and habits might be all it takes to help you regain the ability to focus on what’s important to you. If they don’t, you might need to reexamine your priorities. What are your goals and is what you’re doing now really going to help you achieve them?
