You’d Better Beerlieve It: Gifts For The Beer Lover In Your Life

Beer has come a long way over the last couple of decades or so. From being something that was produced en masse in a Dutch factory and drunk to excess in football stadiums, it’s now become something of a past time for aficionados everywhere. Every year, dozens of new craft beers are made, all with a unique flavor and provenance, making beer drinking more of a pursuit than a bad habit. Now it’s a major industry, with hundreds of thousands of people attending beer festivals every year.

Is there are a beer lover in your life? Here are some of the latest beer-related gifts and gadgets they’ll love.

Beer Glassware

Most people think that beer is drunk solely out of generic pint glasses. But the aficionados out there would tend to disagree. It’s not just about the quantity of lager you can guzzle down on a Friday night anymore. It’s about the experience of holding the glass too and savoring the taste.

There are lots of different beer glasses to choose from, from IPA glass to stout to pilsner, each of which has a different look and feel. Some look surprisingly similar to wine glasses.

Beer Magazine Subscription

There’s no so much interest in what’s happening in the world of beer that the industry is able to sustain its own subscription magazines. Not only do beer lovers enjoy drinking beer, but they also love reading about it too.

Beer magazines, like Beer Advocate, have been around now for more than 10 years. What’s more, the subs are dirt cheap: a year’s supply of the mag will set you back just $10. Other magazines, like Craft Beer & Brewing, focus more on the “how-to” of making beer – something which home brewers everywhere will appreciate.

Can Coolers

Flickr

Beer is best drunk cold. But what happens if it’s a warm day? Easy. Just use some skinny can koozies. The insulating fabric will help keep the heat of the day locked out, giving your beer lover a refreshing drink, no matter how long they spend chatting at their next garden party.

Beer Hopper

A picnic without beer is like a meal without wine. But transporting beer to the picnic site, especially if it’s more of a hike than a walk, can ruin the experience. Why? Because the beer warms up, ruining the flavor.

Now, though, there’s a solution: the beer hopper. Beer hoppers are simple. They’re essentially insulated bags, kept cold by a mountain of ice. Standard hoppers usually have space for 18 cans – plenty for a weekend trip into the hills.

Beer Saver Lids

Craft beers sometimes disappoint. But every so often, beer lovers come across a beer than they absolutely love and want to save. The problem is that it’s simply not possible to keep the beer in a beer bottle for long once it’s opened. Or is it?

Beer saver lids are a special kind of beer bottle cap. Made from a mixture of silicone and plastic, they can be used to reseal bottles of beer, allowing the beer lover to enjoy their half-drunk beer at a later time, without it losing fizz or flavor.

Style Items That Wood Sharpen Up Your Wardrobe

As men we’re always on trying to look sharp when we leave to go to a spot where we socialize. Granted men’s fashion is the more obscure than women’s fashion because whenever something new is pushed out, it normally get rejected. At the very least, some style items we buy, slowly degrade and then, they’re not as slick and cool as they were when we first bought them. Well, it’s time to incorporate a new style that’s more inclined to last a little longer and quite literally. How about the use of wood to force open your choice of other clothing items? As a material, we think of wood as being more for other household items, but the urban and hipster scene has always been pushing the boundaries. Now you can add to your wardrobe with certain elements of fashion that make use of different woods, in a cool and outlandish way.

The hat that started it

Hipster culture is hit and miss, and it always has been. Some say the style is just being different for the sake of it, which discredits what it tries to achieve. However the majority of the inner city fashion icons, are adamant that something, and sometimes anything should be done to push men’s fashion in another direction. Fedora hats are to be seen especially in the cosmopolitan cities. A wood-brimmed fedora hat makes use of woods like oak, rosewood, and beachwood to circle the outside of the headwear. With different shades of red, orange and brown wood colors, you can then mix and match the different fabrics and textures for a snazzy look, which gets more apparent the closer the observer gets.

Wood you like some shade

Protecting your eyes during the hotter months is a practical solution that fashion has made a market out of. Aside from the metal or plastic shades, there are other, obscure but trendy styles out there on the market. Bamboo sunglasses are light and durable, yet they stand out from the crowd due to the contrast of natural colors, as well the uncommon use of the material. Bamboo is as strong as steel some say, and yet just a minuscule of the weight. The light yellow or beige color would go well with bright and dark tops because the natural tone of bamboo is quite neutral.

Skater vibes

Times have changed, and the skater boy fashion has had to move with them. Rather than the synthetic wrap bracelets from the 1990s, you could incorporate a wooden bracelet to go with your outfit. You can get dark orange varnished styles, but the rough and tumble are wooden bracelets, that have scratches, and cuts as part of the style. If you’ve got ear hole lobe earrings, you could also swap out the casual black plastic style for a smooth oak variation. They’re less likely to bend and snap when weight is put on them because they’re a more dense than plastic, yet weigh just as light. Additionally, as they’re tougher, they won’t snap and potentially harm you.

Without a doubt, the use of wood will shake up your wardrobe. It just goes to show, you don’t need to have the latest chic styles that are coming out of Paris, and other fashion havens to give your fashion sense a new horizon on your own style.

It’s always a good thing to buy people practical gifts that they’re actually going to make use of.

Crumpled City Maps

These neat little items are great for people who love to travel to different cities around the world. They’re maps made from fabric that you literally screw up and carry around with you. They can then be pulled out of your pocket and checked at any time. And because they can be crumpled up in different ways, you don’t need to pull the whole thing out to look at it. Instead, you can just inspect the part of the map that’s relevant at the time. It’s the sort of thing that can be both fun and useful. They’re available for a whole host of world cities.

For many people who travel a lot, part of what makes it so fun is creating memories and recording what’s being done. That’s exactly what a GoPro camera would allow them to do. It’s perfect for traveling because of its compact size. It can slot into a bag of pretty much any size, and it’s easy to carry around and use too. You don’t need to know anything about capturing video to make use of one of these. They’re relatively affordable, and it’s something they’re sure to get plenty of use out of, so it’s a gift that’s worth considering.

Traveling is a lot of fun, and you can make it even more enjoyable for your friend or relative next time you need to buy them a gift. Each of the ideas discussed above will add something to their travel experiences.

Light & Shade: The Key To Highlighting Your Facial Features

Pixabay

Even the most beautiful women struggle with their looks sometimes. And while nobody’s face is perfect we’re all trying to make the most of what we’ve got by using accessories or trying to highlight certain attributes. But also we could all just benefit from a decent guide on how to highlight what you consider to be the most desirable parts of your face. So here’s a quick cheat sheet to make your face look complete and make you feel better.

Emphasizing Your Eyes

Apart from going for a dramatic makeup look, there are a few simple ways to emphasize the windows to your soul without going overboard in terms of your makeup. One of the simple and effective ways is to tight line the upper lash line by using a black pencil or a gel liner into the water line part and between the eyelashes. This will create a lot of definition. In addition, put a small amount of eyeshadow or highlighter by the tear ducts in the corners of your eyes to make them look larger.

Your Cheekbones

Short of having plastic surgery there are a few other ways to give your cheekbones that defined look we are all after. The first thing to do is to use a matte contouring cream or powder and blend the color into your cheeks, you do this by sucking them in to see where the shadow should go. After that, use some powder blush above the shadow to blend in the color and then add some highlighter above the blush which will help to add some more dimension to your cheekbones.

Divert Attention From Your Nose

Usually, contouring techniques are the best approach to making your nose appear small in stature. To do this make sure you draw a straight line down the bridge of your nose with a highlighter or a concealer, and this highlighter has to be a bit lighter in tone than your skin and blend it well. In addition to this, you can also use a darker powder on the sides of your nose to add some shade, so it will disguise the shape.

Your Forehead

A lot of us struggle with a high forehead so if you want to draw attention away from it, your hair is the best approach. Contouring your hairline will be the best way to draw attention away, and by using a foundation that is darker than your usual foundation and go with the natural curve of your hair before blending it in, it will help a lot.

Showing Off Your Lips

We all want to have thicker and fuller lips, but the best way to do it is to add a shimmery highlighter to the miniscule V-shape in the middle of your top lip (also known as your cupid’s bow), and it will make them appear fuller without needing to add color.

As you can see, there are many simple and effective ways to highlight your attributes which doesn’t require excessive trips to the mirror to retouch your makeup. All you need to do is to understand a bit more about maximizing shade and minimizing light!

Control Your Hunger for a Healthier You

Why is it that most diets fail? I’d wager that it’s down to nothing more complicated than simple hunger. So many people believe that, if they want to lose weight, they have to seriously restrict their diets until they’re eating little more than small portions of fruits and vegetables with a little lean meat thrown into the mix. This might cause the weight to drop off, but it’s hardly sustainable; eventually, hunger will get the better of them, and they’ll rebound in spectacular style, going on the mother of all binges. This is most definitely the wrong way to go about things.

Fortunately, there is another way. It is perfectly possible to lose weight without falling into a pattern of extreme hunger followed by almighty binges. Here are some tips to help get you there:

Eat Only ‘Real’ Foods

By real foods, I mean natural whole foods. If it comes in a package with a list of ingredients longer than your arm, many of which you couldn’t even guess what they are, avoid them. Heavily processed pre-packaged foods are weird in that they contain a lot more calories than the same portions of healthy whole foods, but they do not fill us up anywhere near as much. So, if you do nothing else, cut out the junk food at least 80 percent of the time and concentrate on nourishing yourself with whole grains, legumes, and beans, fresh fish, chicken, turkey, and eggs. You’ll be able to lose weight without feeling so hungry that you can’t help but binge.

Eat Slowly and Mindfully

If you wolf down your food, your body won’t have time to register the fact that you’re full, which means it won’t be long before you’re hungry again (and tempted by the cookie jar). So, take the time to slow down and savor every bite, chewing each piece at least 20 times, so that your meal lasts at least 20 minutes (when fullness will register). You should find that, even though you’re eating less, you’ll feel fuller and you’ll enjoy your food a whole lot more too.

Try Lovidia

If you need a little extra help, Lovidia – a natural supplement which helps to keep hunger under control could help. It tells your gut’s food sensors that you’ve had enough so that you can go about your day without feeling the urge to snack between meals or eat too much for lunch.

Keep a Food Journal

Keeping a food journal of everything you eat might seem like a lot of effort, but if you do it, and you do it honestly, writing down not only what you eat, but how it makes you feel, you can identify foods which make you feel fuller and those which spur you to eat more. This enables you to make a few tweaks to your diet so that you’re less likely to get hungry and overeat.

Once you learn how to better control your hunger, it’s actually pretty easy to eat healthy most of the time, and you should be able to lose weight. You’ll also be able to have a little treat now and again, knowing that it won’t set a vicious cycle in motion.

Mental Health? Yoga Is A No-Brainer!

File

More and more people are beginning to understand the importance of mental health. In the past, individuals with depression were seen as miserable, but now we know it is an illness. It is this increase in awareness which why many people try and take care of their mental health. From a daily brain teaser to meditation, there are lots of ways to soothe the mind. But, none are better than a daily dose of yoga. Although it might be a cliché, it is true that the exercises are as good for your brain as your body. Here are the reasons why yoga-na benefit.

It Clears The Mind

Have you heard of the Mountain Top Clinic retreat in India? Lots of people have because they are experts in wellness and well-being. And, if you check out mountaintopclinic.com, you’ll see that they start each day with a yoga session. The fact that professionals in the area believe in the qualities should be enough, but there is more. In simple terms, the physical act of yoga is a form of meditation which helps clear the mind. By performing it daily, it helps reduce the tensions and rigors of life. As a result, people tend to suffer from mental ailments such as stress far less.

Reduces Focus

To a lot of people, reducing focus is not a clever move. After all, the more you concentrate, the better the results, right? Not in the case of your brain. Yes, there are times when you need to focus on enhancing your mental abilities. But, concentrating on the wrong things is fatiguing. Plus, it only heightens the feeling of stress. By clearing your mind, there should be a complete lack of focus on, well, everything. Sometimes, not thinking is the only way to think as it helps you clear the mind.

Prevents Mental Health Issues

Although stress is a major cause of mental discomfort, it is only the beginning. From depression to bipolar disorder, there are lots of diseases that a person can develop. And, these are just two examples; there is a lot more if you are willing to look. The good news is that a study in the Journal of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics found links between yoga and mental health. On examinedexistence.com, the results found that yoga goers had better mindfulness and didn’t suffer mood swings.

Boosts Physical Well-Being

If you think that mental and physical health is separate, you are wrong. Yes, certain factors affect your brain and your body, but they also share a link. Simply put, people who are unhealthy also suffer from mental illnesses. The reason for this is that exercise is a great way to relieve stress and tension. If there is a lack of exercise in your life, the build up will lead to an explosion. Why yoga and not other sports? Well, although it’s low-intensity, the health benefits are wide-ranging. According to osteopathic.org, it is one of the best forms of workout available.

Floods The Brain

One of the great things about yoga is the fact that it enhances an individual’s mood. However, don’t take people at their word – check out the science. There are certain things which boost chemical production and flood the brain with dopamine and oxytocin. If your mind is in the gutter, you’ll be able to think of one at the very least! Well, it might not feel as good, but yoga has the same effect thanks to a spike in GABA. GABA stands for gamma-aminobutyric acid, and it plays a significant role in a person’s mood. Even better, bustle.com found a researcher who did a 12-week study and the results are interesting. According to the results, people who did yoga for three hours a week had 27% more gamma-amino acid compared to walkers.

File

And Cuts Out Chemicals At The Same Time

Yoga is that good for mental health that it can do two things at once. As well as flooding the brain with amino acids which are mood enhancers, it clears away the nasty stuff. Have you ever heard of cortisol? If you haven’t, you will have come across it in some form because it is the chemical associated with stress. Obviously, the more that is in your system, the higher the stress levels will be. Aside from clearing your mind, it also reduces cortisol levels. Studies by a German team show that women with mental illnesses were less stressed after months of regular yoga. As ncbi.nlm.nih.gov points out, this is most likely due to a decrease in cortisol.

Fortifies The Brain

And this is not an exaggeration. Firstly, research suggests that yoga helps to strengthen brain tissue. Therefore, regular stretching makes the mind stronger. So, the likelihood of contracting an illness is lower. Think of it as a strong immune system versus a weak one. More mind boggling is the study which suggests yoga literally helps the brain grow. Research by the NCCAM found that the hippocampus was larger in yogis. Before you scoff, just know that the ‘campus is the area of the mind that deals with anxiety. And, if that isn’t enough, the somatosensory cortex tends to be larger, too. It is thought the growth in brain size can help a person deal with everything from self-esteem issues to problem-solving.

Enhances Cerebral Cortex

There is a good chance you have no idea what “cerebral cortex” means, and you won’t be the first person. In layman’s terms, it is the area of the brain that deals with processes such as memory and decision-making. It won’t be a surprise to hear that yoga helps in this area, but how? It’s down to cortical folding. Normally, folds aren’t appealing, but they are great for the brain. Yoga and meditation help with the production of cortical folding through gyrification. In the long run, it helps keep the brain and mind youthful for longer. When this happens, your mental health won’t be at risk.

If you are worried about your mind, yoga is a no-brainer.

Family Activities to Bring You All Closer Together

As a parent, it is your responsibility not only to take good care of your kids, but to ensure that you spend lots of time with them building a strong bond that will ensure that, should your kids be dealing with any serious issues, they will feel confident that they can talk to you about anything. One of the easiest ways to do this is by scheduling regular family activities, where you can all have fun together while laughing, playing and talking.

Here are some of the best family activities to bring your family closer together:

Family Dinner

If you can’t have a family dinner around the table every night, and this can be difficult if you or your spouse work long hours and the kids are enrolled in extracurricular activities, at least schedule a couple of nights when you can get around the table each week.

When you’re all enjoying a home cooked meal around the table, it’s the perfect opportunity to ask the kids about their day, hash out any problems and generally just enjoy some pleasant time together. Families who eat dinner together often, tend to be happier and closer than those who do not, so make a real effort to incorporate this into your life.

TV Time

You might be wondering what I’ve included Tv time on the list. Watching TV often gets a bad wrap. Some people will say that it causes families to become more distant, and less inclined to talk to each other, but it doesn’t have to be that way. If you have decent cable and on-demand services from Optimum, for example, you can pick out a couple of shows that have family appeal and which feature a range of issues you might want to broach with the kids. For example, if you want to talk about mental health and suicide with your teenager, sitting down to watch 13 Reasons Why together could be a good way to broach the subject. The key is to limit TV time and encourage the watching of shows to be a family thing, not a solitary pursuit.

Organize a Camping Trip

Spending some time in the Great Outdoors as a family is undoubtedly one of the best ways to do some serious family bonding. For a period of time, you’re taken away from your normal lives and the myriad gadgets that keep you from spending quality time together, which means you have to entertain yourselves. You can do this by swapping family stories, telling tall tales and asking your kids about their aspirations. It’s sure to be a very illuminating time that will give them memories to treasure forever.

Have a Games Night

Game nights might seem a little quaint in the internet age, but there’s nothing quite like gathering around the dinner table to play a game of Monopoly or Settlers of Catan to bring the whole family together for some wholesome fun. If you struggle to convince the kids, there are no reasons why you can’t throw some console games into the mix, just prepare to be thrashed!

Library Trips

Encouraging your kids to read more will only ever be to their benefit, and enjoying trips to the library together is a great way for the whole family to bond. You can discuss books you loved and hated, read favorite passages to each other, and as with Tv watching, you can use books to bring up those topics that might otherwise be awkward to discuss.

Home Movies

Investing in a video camera is a great way to get closer as a family. Not only will you be able to document all of the important milestones in family life, but you can encourage the kids to talk to grandma and grandpa about their life experiences, on film, bringing them closer together and fostering a greater appreciation for the extended family. You’ll all have lots of fun watching the videos back too.

Volunteer Together

Volunteering is a great way to give back to your community, and something that all children should be encouraged to do. If they have a particular passion, whether it’s for rescue animals or the environment, see if there’s a local related non-profit that you could volunteer for as a family. They’ll appreciate the effort you’re making to know more about their passions, and even more that you’re willing to help.

Learn Together

In a similar vein, if your children are interested in learning a new hobby, such as karate, knitting or painting, instead of simply paying for them to have classes, why not go along too? Having at least one interest in common will definitely make it easier for you to relate to each other and you’ll probably increase your cool parent rating by at least 30 points if you show a genuine interest in doing something your kids love.

Start a Tradition

Your family probably had a few traditions, like baking cookies every Saturday or going out for dinner with your grandparents on the last Sunday of the month. Why not start a new tradition just for your family; something that you’ll all enjoy now and which you’ll look back on with fondness in years to come. It can be something simple like a family walk through the park after Sunday brunch; it doesn’t matter as long as it brings as many members of the family together as possible.

Random Acts of Kindness

Random acts of kindness are a great way to enjoy family time together because, not only do you get to spend some quality time as a family, but you teach your kids about the importance of sharing, being kind and looking after your fellow man. Acts of kindness can be as simple as helping an elderly person cross the road, or something a bit more involved like crafting cards and gifts to be given anonymously to neighbors.

Whether you spend your time playing, laughing or eating together,  what really matters is that you are taking the time and effort to actually do things together. Spending quality time together as a family is the best possible thing you can do for their children to give them a happy childhood now and a bright future.

Glamming Up The Little Things

Keeping yourself looking and feeling good can be quite hard in the 21st century, there are unrealistic beauty standards that we are expected to achieve and this can put us down! However, there are some things that you can do to make your look that extra bit better, so keep on reading to find out about them!

Dying Your Ends

Your hair is one of the focal points for your look, it’s colour and style determines the way in which people view you! There isn’t anything subtle about hair because it’s out for everyone to see and often isn’t easily hidden, however there is one thing you can do; dye the ends! Instead of dying the entire length of your hair, if you just do the ends you can achieve a very cool but subtle look with your hair. It’s in opposition to dying the entirety of your hair.  It’s also cheaper too as you’re not going to be dying the whole of length of your hair, so you’re going to be able to make the dye last longer!

Getting Your Nails Done

Your nails are like hair for your hands, they’re what either make the look or break it! However, unlike hair they are incredibly subtle and can make a great addition to your look, so long as they match! You have two options with nails, you can either buy add on ones from websites like msmee.com or you can get them done at a local nail salon. Why is this so good you ask? Well, it doesn’t hurt your bank very much at all and it’s something that can change your entire look if you really get it right, but people won’t be able to put their finger on it so it’s a subtle game changer!

Eyeliner

Eyeliner can go two ways, it’s either too bold or too little, but it’s one of the most important things on your face that dictates the look! Your eyeliner should match your look ideally, but there is a way to make it subtle and enhance your look at the same time, so how do you do it? The trick is to put as little on as possible without making it stand out; a short but wide wing will do the job right, it will be barely noticeable but it will contribute greatly to the look. To achieve this, you’re going to need eyeliner that matches your skintone well and goes on easy, the likes of which you can get from ultra.com and make sure it matches your eyeshadow too else it’s going to stick out loads

Doing all of these things is recommended if you want to go for a subliminally killer look, you’re going to have just the ends of your hair dyed a different colour so you stand out but not too much, your nails are going to make your hands look even more elegant and stylish and your eyeliner is going to just finish it all off! The one thing we haven’t covered though is the smile, so read this to learn how to take care of yours!

4 Ingredients To Host The Best Brunch Party

In a world where almost combination of words get turned into a hybrid (Brangelina, hangry, floordrobe, glamping and regretro), the greatest of them all is still Brunch. Not because it is a particularly clever play on words but because it is one of the greatest inventions ever. A ways to celebrate a Sunday, to get over a hangover, kick start a lazy day in the best way possible and just have an excuse to see your friends outside the usual Friday or Saturday night.

What’s more, Brunch is also one of the best meals to host too. There is more flexibility, fewer rules and, a lot of the time, they won’t drag on longer than needed because you and your guests will probably have other plans for later on.

With that in mind, here are some of our top tips to make your brunch party the best brunch party of all time:

Cook. Prepare. In Advance.

Trying to entertain your guests and deal with the delicate procedures involved in cooking a brunch tends to spell out disaster. That is why you need to keep your kitchen running smoothly and stick to the rule of only choosing one dish to cook on the day (such as scrambled eggs or hash browns), one dish to prepare the day before (such as a wicked tasty salad or sandwiches) and one that can be done in advance (cakes and bread). Stick to this and you’ll breeze through this whole thing.

Know Your Breakfast Meats.

This is your chance to play around with some of the fan favourites, such as bacon and sausages, as well as bring out the kind of meats you would get in a hotel’s continental breakfast, such as salami and cured meats. As a little tip, cook your bacon and sausages in the oven because the less you use your hobs the easier it will be to entertain.

Booze Is Acceptable.

The thing that makes Brunch so awesome is the fact you can get away with having certain boozy drinks for what is essentially breakfast. The winner is always a good Bloody mary, so long as you have the right Bloody Mary seasoning. However, if you want to put on a selection, then we recommend you make some Mimosas and Bellinis too. You could even go with an Irish Coffee. Of course, this can get a little expensive, so have your guests bring some ingredients with them. That way they can also help make the drinks while you do the food.

Little Extras To Include.

There are certain little extras that everyone will love but not everyone will expect and that is exactly how you can make your Brunch party an absolute hit. We’re talking about a selection of pancakes that will invoke nostalgia. We’re talking about French Toast and some vibrant fruits to stop your servings from being so monochromatic. Donuts and fresh bread are also winners because every person loves tasty carbs, especially if there is booze that could need some soaking up.

Yup, your next Brunch party is going to see you become known as the hostess with the mostess. We promise.

Are You Taking Enough Breaks From Your Kids?

Any parent will laugh at you when you suggest the idea of them having time away from their kids. They’ll tell you that they don’t have the time, and even if they did, they wouldn’t want to abandon them. But they’re probably doing themselves more harm than good by having this attitude. It’s important for parents to have time away from their kids for a lot of reasons. It’s better for their relationship with each other, as well as their relationship with the kids. If you aren’t spending time alone, these are the reasons that you should be.

Stress

Stress is a central part of every parent’s life. You aren’t going to escape it, but you can help to negate the effects by having a bit of time away from the hustle and bustle of family life. Why not go for a relaxing deep tissue massage to de stress, or meet with a friend for coffee. Whatever it is that you do to relax, taking this time away from the kids and regrouping will stop you from burning yourself out. When you return to them afterwards you’ll be revitalized and you’ll be able to enjoy your time with them more because you won’t feel like you’re being overloaded.

Identity

It’s important for your children’s development that they see you as a person in your own right. You’re always going to be their parent before anything else, but they need to see you expressing your own personality or identity so that when they grow up, they understand it’s ok for them to do the same. Seeing you going out to do things that you enjoy will encourage them to do the same and help them to start forming their own identity.

Give Them Space

People always think that taking a break from your kids is all about you, but the truth is, they need it as much as you do. Kids don’t want to spend every waking moment with you otherwise they’ll be completely defined by you. Without time to be independent, they’ll never learn to do things for themselves and they won’t be able to develop a personality separate from you. They’re also going to move out permanently at some point so if you’ve not got used to being an individual without them, that transition is going to be incredibly hard for both of you.

Think For Yourself

When you’re a parent, most of the things that you think about are related to the kids. Who needs picking up from where? What are you having for dinner? You barely get a chance to think about anything for yourself. That’s not healthy for anybody so getting some time away to think about the things that you used to think about before you were a parent is always a positive.

Leaving your kids for a while doesn’t mean that you’re abandoning them. It will give you both a much needed rest and strengthen the bond between you, so don’t be afraid to look after yourself and take a bit of time for yourself every once in awhile.
